Roles & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage all daily workshop activities for a fleet of 150 units (trucks, cranes, wheel loaders).
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in heavy vehicles and equipment, and ensure timely, high-quality repairs.
- Supervise, lead, and mentor workshop staff (mechanics, electricians, helpers, welders) to achieve performance and productivity targets.
- Set and enforce workshop procedures, work instructions, and quality standards for all maintenance activities.
- Monitor and control maintenance costs, including labor, spare parts, tools, and consumables, while optimizing resource utilization.
- Manage spare parts and inventory, ensuring availability of critical items for Mercedes trucks, UD trucks, Zoomlion cranes, and wheel loaders.
- Coordinate with operations, transport, and planning teams to align maintenance schedules with operational requirements and dispatch plans.
- Ensure all workshop activities comply with company policies, OEM guidelines, local regulations, and HSE standards.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, service history, breakdowns, and inspections using workshop management systems or spreadsheets.
- Analyze breakdown trends, recurring faults, and maintenance KPIs, and propose corrective and improvement actions.
- Liaise with dealers, suppliers, and external workshops for specialized repairs, warranty claims, and technical support.
- Implement and oversee safety programs in the workshop, including toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
- Train and develop workshop team members in technical skills, safety practices, and standard procedures.
- Prepare maintenance reports, fleet availability reports, and cost summaries for management review.

- Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational skills to handle high-volume maintenance operations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under time and operational pressure.
- Good knowledge of workshop safety standards, HSE practices, and compliance requirements.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelorโs degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent, recognized qualification).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in workshop/fleet maintenance in the GCC or in India or other Asian countries, preferably in transport and heavy equipment environments.
- Proven experience managing maintenance of a large fleet (ideally 100+ units), including heavy trucks and construction equipment.
- Strong technical knowledge of: Mercedes heavy trucks, UD trucks, Zoomlion cranes, wheel loaders and related hydraulic and powertrain systems.
- Solid understanding of preventive maintenance practices, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and braking systems.
Position summary
- Responsible for end-to-end management of Wisdom Transportโs workshop operations.
- Oversees maintenance and repair of a fleet of approximately 150 vehicles (trucks, cranes, wheel loaders).
- Fleet includes trucks (primarily Mercedes and UD), cranes (Zoomlion), and wheel loaders.
- Ensures maximum fleet availability, cost-effective maintenance, and full compliance with safety and quality standards to support transport and crane operations.
