Job Title: Production Shift In-Charge – Alkyd, UPR & Polymer Emulsion Manufacturing

Department: Production Reports To: Production Manager Location: Mesaieed Industrial City Shift: Rotational shifts

Job Summary:

The Production Shift In-Charge is responsible for supervising and controlling all production activities during the assigned shift for Alkyd, Unsaturated Polyester (UPR), and Polymer Emulsion resin lines. The role ensures efficient and smooth operation of process equipment, adherence to batch formulations, product quality compliance, and strict implementation of safety and environmental standards.

Technical Knowledge:

o Batch polymerization processes and reactor operation.

o Esterification, condensation, and emulsion polymerization chemistry.

o Understanding of process control instrumentation, and automation systems.

o Knowledge of MSDS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and GMP requirements.

o Familiarity with DCS/PLC-based process control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production & Process Operations

· Execute shift production as per daily and monthly production schedules.

· Supervise operation of reactors, blenders, condensers, cooling systems, and related process equipments.

· Ensure efficient use of raw materials, utilities, and manpower.

· Monitor and control process parameters such as temperature, acid value, viscosity, solid content, and conversion levels.

2. Quality & Process Control

· Ensure that all batches meet quality parameters defined by QC.

· Conduct in-process checks and coordinate for sampling and analysis.

· Adjust reaction conditions based on test results to maintain desired product specifications.

· Record process data, maintain batch records, and ensure traceability of raw materials and finished goods.

· Support process optimization and yield improvement initiatives.

3. Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance

· Implement and enforce all plant safety protocols, PPE compliance, and safe work practices.

· Ensure safe handling of varies classes of hazardous materials.

· Oversee proper functioning of condensers, scrubbers, and pollution control systems.

· Report and document incidents, near misses, and deviations promptly.

· Support waste minimization and effluent treatment activities.

4. Manpower & Team Management

· Supervise operators, technicians, and helpers in the assigned shift.

· Plan manpower allocation for different production lines based on workload.

· Conduct shift meetings, task briefings, and end-of-shift handovers.

· Ensure operator training on batch procedures, emergency response, and safe operations.

· Maintain discipline and a productive work environment on the shop floor.

5. Coordination & Reporting

· Liaise with Maintenance, Quality Control, Raw material stores and utility team for smooth production flow.

· Report any equipment malfunctions or process deviations to the Production Manager and Maintenance team.

· Prepare and submit daily production, material consumption, and downtime reports.

· Ensure smooth handover to the next shift and proper documentation of shift activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Education: Bachelor degree in Chemistry, polymer chemistry / B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology, or similar education.

· Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a resin or polymer manufacturing plant (with exposure to Alkyd, UPR, or Emulsion resin production preferred).
