Job Summary
An Electrical Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings and layouts for construction and engineering projects. The role involves working closely with electrical engineers and project teams to produce accurate CAD drawings, schematics, and technical documentation in compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical shop drawings, layouts, and schematic diagrams using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).
- Develop drawings for:
- Power distribution systems
- Lighting systems
- Low current systems (Fire Alarm, Data, CCTV, Access Control)
- Modify and update drawings according to engineer instructions and site conditions.
- Prepare as-built drawings after project completion.
- Coordinate drawings with other disciplines such as mechanical, architectural, and civil.
- Review and interpret electrical design drawings and specifications.
- Ensure drawings comply with Qatar construction standards and project requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and drawing revisions.
- Assist engineers in preparing technical submissions and material submittals.
- Support project teams during installation and execution phases.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an Electrical Draftsman (preferably in GCC/Qatar).
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and electrical drafting standards.
- Familiarity with Qatar construction practices and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical design drawings and technical documents.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MEP projects.
- Knowledge of BIM or Revit is an advantage.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
- Ability to work under project deadlines.
